mary ann mobleyMary Ann Mobley, one of the first Miss America winners to make it big in show business, died this week at her home in California after a long battle with cancer.

Seventy-five year old Mobley died on Tuesday at her home in Beverly Hills.

Born and raised in Mississippi, Mobley was the first person from her state to be crowned Miss America in 1959.

In 1963, Aaron Spelling cast her in his TV show Burke’s Law.

Mobley went on to appear on several television shows including The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, The Partridge Family and Diff’rent Strokes.

She also appeared on the big screen with Elvis Presley in two films, Girl Happy and Harum Scarum.

In 1967, Mobley married actor and TV host Gary Collins, who passed away in 2012.

The couple had one child, a daughter, Mary Clancy.

A funeral is set for next week in Mississippi
