A former FOX News employee committed suicide outside the station’s NYC corporate offices earlier today.

It’s unclear what brought Phillip Perea, of Irving, Texas, to NYC, but authorities said just before 9:00 a.m. Monday he shot himself in the chest outside the News Corp. building on Sixth Avenue and West 47 Street.

Reports say 41-year-old Perea was protesting outside the midtown Manhattan building about how the news channel ruined his life when two security guards approached him and asked him to leave.

As the guards were making their way back inside the building, they heard the sound of a gun being fired. When they turned around they saw Perea on the ground.

Perea was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, w here he later died.

There are reports that a suicide note was found in Perea’s pocket.

Perea had worked for a Fox station in Austin as a promotion producer.
